BuildON Showcases Smart Building Digitalization and Automation at ENLIT 2025

News

The project, represented by CARTIF, highlights integrated digital solutions for smart, energy-efficient buildings across Europe.

At ENLIT 2025, the EU-funded project BuildON presented its latest advancements in smart building digitalization and automation during the session “Thermal Storage & Building Integration”.

The session brought together leading European initiatives working on thermal storage, smart building solutions, and energy-efficiency strategies, including ThumbsUp, HYSTORE, ECHO, BEST-Storage, and oPEN Lab.

Sofia Mulero from CARTIF, coordinator of BuildON, emphasized the key role of digital intelligence as the backbone of next-generation energy-efficient buildings. BuildON introduced its integrated suite of digital tools designed to enhance building performance, empower occupants, and support smarter energy management across Europe.

The solutions presented include:

  • Digital Twins for building performance simulation and intelligent operational control
  • AI-based analytics such as energy fingerprinting, asset monitoring, and benchmarking
  • Advanced automation and control services for comfort optimization, asset orchestration, and grid-responsive flexibility
  • An IoT Edge-Cloud interoperable framework ensuring seamless data exchange and enhanced building operations
  • User-centric tools including SRI-based applications, intuitive interfaces, and the Digital Building Logbook

By presenting these solutions at ENLIT, BuildON strengthened its role within the European research and innovation community and demonstrated how its digital tools can support the ongoing modernization of the built environment. The event also offered valuable opportunities for collaboration, stakeholder engagement and dissemination of project results, increasing visibility toward the European Commission and key industry actors.

Through its active participation, BuildON underscored its contribution to the collective effort to deliver smarter, more efficient and interoperable buildings across Europe.
