Investing in district heating and cooling: a path to energy independence and sustainability in the EU

Meeting 20% of the EU’s heat demand with district heating and cooling by 2030 could save 24 billion cubic meters of gas, equivalent to 32% of the EU’s 2022 Russian gas imports. Achieving this requires significant investments in new systems, the integration of clean, renewable heat sources, and the modernization of Europe’s district heating and cooling infrastructure.

EHP recently held its annual congress, #EHPCongress24, at the World Trade Center in Rotterdam, specifically focused on this urgent topic, and brought together industry leaders, innovators, and experts from around the world to discuss how to meet more sustainable targets. The Euroheat & Power Congress is a premier event offering high-level insights into legislation, business models, technology, and market trends in the district heating and cooling industry. It attracts over 450 business executives, features more than 30 exhibitors and 60+ speakers, and includes representatives from local authorities across Europe.

EHP proudly showcased its diverse project portfolio at its own booth, offering attendees an in-depth look at its cutting-edge initiatives and fostering meaningful connections and discussions. BuildON was a meaningful part of it, thanks to its primary relevance in the framework of energy efficiency, digitalization, and smart buildings.
